Archive for the ‘Fall’ CategoryAs the hot days of summer wind down, we at Willow St. are so lucky to get the early buzz on what is hot for fall by just opening the pile (and I do mean PILE) of boxes that we receive daily from our trusty UPS man John.
Oh!!! What do we have here??!!! Our new obsession….the Cascade drape front shearling jacket from Vince. I can’t even!!! We love this jacket so much it might just have to be a splurge for the season. I’m picturing it with my J Brand 811 skinny navy jeans and my new Ella Moss Brighton top. I might throw on a Chan Luu bracelet for good measure too! Or how about adding an edge and pairing it with a sexy dress from Bailey 44 with our favorite booties from Matt Bernson!!!! Does anyone else get this excited about fashion!!!!?? Love it! Check out our just in section for all the hot new items for the coming season….. The blouse says it all. Pretty, elegant, feminine and cool. Everyone needs at least one Tucker by Gaby Basora blouse in their closet. Each pattern is so different from the next. The Tucker blouse can be worn every which way. These colorful patterns would make an all black suit pop. Leave it tucked out and casual with a wide leg jean (Seven for All Mankind shown above). “The name Gaby Basora’s line came to her in a dream. Awake with the word Tucker on her mind, Basora looked up the word that had been spoken to her in her sleep. ’A piece of cloth draped about the neck and shoulders.’ Tucker. The perfect name for the collection of draped silk blouses Basora was designing for herself to fill the void in her closet. That was back in 2005. A year later, those Tucker by Gaby Basora blouses were rapidly disappearing from the sales floor at Barneys New York. Now, five years on, Tucker by Gaby Basora encompasses a complete wardrobe of blouses, dresses, coats, jackets, leather and knits, is sold in more than 200 of the top stores worldwide, and class A-list fans such as Cameron Diaz, Liv Tyler and Drew Barrymore. In 2010 Basora is added to an impressive roster of designers with her Tucker for Target collaboration. Yet Basora never lost her connection to the subliminal. Every signature print and every vintage-inspired silhouette she develops comes from her vision. ‘There’s a wistful feeling – like nostalgia, a yearning for something intimate and yet somehow inaccessible – that I try to conjure with these clothes,’ Basora says. Tucker is as easy to slip into as a reverie. The brand’s trademark ethereal silk sync tailored staples and cozy knits, adding up to a wardrobe of fresh clasics. Basora, a modern mother of three, puts a premium on wearability, designing mix-and-match closet hits with an idiosyncratic personality. asora comes by that idiosyncratic streak naturally, hailing from a family of art lovers and flea market scroungers from whom he learned to seize inspiration anywhere and everywhere. ‘I’m inspired-agnostic,’ notes Basora. ‘Marguerite Duras, a drawing by my son, the way the tree looks when I’m biking by it, the French schoolgirls I saw when I visited Paris… It all contributes, it all gets remixed in my head. Whether it’s a perfect-cut trench coat, or a pleated skirt printed with birds,’ she adds, ‘I want the clothes to feel mysteriously familiar, like a resurfacing memory you never want to forget.’” (text copied and quoted form Tucker’s trademarked website) Such an amazing story! Gaby Basora has such unique taste and style. As mentioned above her inspirations come from everywhere. How a tree blows, her kids artwork – it makes her patterns that much more special. She inspires me on a creative level with her patterns to always think outside the box. So many of our customers stalk this line for many reasons. I say ‘stalk’ in a good way. The style of the blouse may stay the same but the pattern is what seals the deal and keeps us looking for more – addicted! willowst.com will sell out of a specific print the same day so always keeps your eyes peeled in ‘Just In‘. I would hate for you to miss the boat When I think of Tucker I think of this quote by Marilyn Monroe “I’m very definitely a woman and I enjoy it.” WOW, WOW and WOW. Need I say more? Lezli, owner and buyer of Willow St. is truly inspiring and such a role model. Fabulous and trendy, strong and bold, …and never seen without her iPad. ‘I would say my style is causal sophisticated with a hint of sexy!’ Her favorite high end designer is Prada and Marni. Favorite Essie color: Damsel in a Dress. Magazine: InStyle, ‘I love trends! It’s what makes our business fun!’ Her favorite restaurant is Gramercy Tavern! ‘In store designer, tough one, so many, probably J Brand and Ella Moss, do I have to pick?!’ Loves a pump! ‘You know, the ones with the red bottom!’ Her summer drink would be Ketel One vodka on the rocks with a twist! You never know, it’s possible!’ ‘What do I love about Willow St.? I love when a customer leaves feeling so great about herself, comes back and tells me she was the foxiest one at the party! I really love what I do, I really love my employees too. They always give me a reason to smile!’ Lezli just got back from Paris with her husband and their friends. ‘On every European trip I take, I notice more and more how put together Europeans are. Blazers never go out of style. I see skinny jeans everywhere with a sneak of wide legs coming back. Women seem to either be wearing a heel or a converse sneaker. If they have a converse on its always with a blazer or a scarf. Always a touch of class. Paris women are always styled sexy, I love that!’ ‘When I buy for Willow St. I always try to get the most style for the best price. I like to have my store be well rounded covering not only the hottest designers but, items that I know will make my clients feel great. Customer service is always first. Finding designers that work on every body type is a challenge, but I want to have something to offer everyone. I try to buy pieces that cannot be found everywhere. Bottom line I want you to feel like you have arrived in a special place every time you walk in my door! No matter what Lezli’s doing behind the scenes (and she does it all) you can always find her at her store in front of the dressing rooms with a smile and a hanger. Fashion me green. Do you know the meaning of green? With both a warming and cooling effect, the color green denotes balance, harmony, and stability. Green contains the powerful energies of nature, growth, desire to expand or increase. Grass green is the most restful color. willowst.com’s favorite green tee is the Danny Slub Tee by Velvet. We also love, the oh so very popular, Green Houlihan Cargo from J Brand. Need a sweater? The Charlotte Tarantola Safari Sweater is the perfect transitional piece for the season. All that made me hungry. Perfect Fall recipe. Bon Appétit! http://tinyurl.com/msnk9e Ingredients for Asparagus Soup: Directions: In a medium pot, bring the stock to a boil. Add the tough woody stems, lower the heat and simmer to infuse with asparagus flavor, 20 to 30 minutes. Remove with a slotted spoon and discard, reserving the stock. Add the decorative tips to the stock and blanch until tender, 1 to 1 1/2 minutes. Remove with a strainer and refresh in an ice water bath. Drain on paper towels and reserve for the garnish. Reserve the stock. In a medium stockpot, melt the butter over medium-high heat. When foamy, add the shallots and leeks and cook until tender, about 3 minutes. Add the garlic and cook until fragrant, about 1 minute. Add the chopped asparagus stalks, salt, and pepper, and cook, stirring, for 2 minutes. Add the reserved broth and simmer until the asparagus are very tender, 15 to 20 minutes. Remove from the heat. With a hand-immersion blender or in batches in a food processor, puree the soup until smooth. Adjust the seasoning, to taste. If serving right away, return to medium heat and add the cream and reserved asparagus tips. Cook, stirring, until the soup is warmed through, about 3 minutes. Alternatively, if serving the soup later, do not add the cream and let cool at room temperature (or in an ice water bath). Cover and refrigerate. Before serving, add the cream and asparagus tips, and warm the soup gently over medium heat, stirring occasionally. To serve, place the soup in a soup tureen and sprinkle with cheese. Ladle into demi-tasse cups or small coffee or tea cups, and serve. Be Safarian. Be Green. Be Lacey Racey. Be there or be square. We ‘rock around the clock’!! 24/7 Our fridge is stocked!
