As a Necessity: By definition the belt is a band of leather or cloth worn around the waist to support clothing. If you are wearing a belt to actually hold up your jeans we recommend tucking your shirt in to avoid a bulge in the front where the buckle is. If this is not a look you are comfortable with, throw on a longer open cardigan to give it a more layered and put together look. If you are not a tucker we highly recommend purchasing an Invisible Belt. This should be a staple in every woman’s closet. This little gem of a belt looks a clear bra strap and lays nice and flat against your pants. You can wear a long fitted shirt right over it and you would never know it’s there. A lot of our customers love this belt because it stops your pants from gapping in the back too. Our only advice on this product is to read the directions carefully on how to adjust the belt.
As an Accessory: The belt is one of the core accessories in every woman’s closet and among being an extremely practical piece, there are also a lot of ways to make a basic belt not so basic. A look we are loving this season is taking any of your favorite belts and throwing them on over an open cardigan sweater to cinch the waist for a figure flattering look. You can do this with an open vest too. Put a belt on over long tunic; wear it slung low on your hips with a skinny jean or legging and a tall boot or heel. As a Trend: Even an accessory as classic as a belt can end up on a trend list. This season we are seeing a ton of big, chunky, wide, waist belts. To embrace this trend we suggest layering a wide belt over a soft and flowy dress. You can also try a chunky waist belt over a flowy blouse with a wide leg, high waisted jean.
Best bang for your buck: The Kim White 3 Way Belt. We love this belt because you can wear cinched high on your waist, slung low on your hips, or through your belt loops.
